Learn a new word... or two
Ennui. (
on-we)
"A feeling of weariness and dissatisfaction.
Ennui is different from boredom in that ennui describes weariness or annoyance over a long period of time; boredom is relieved easily, while
ennui is constant. "
Ennui is differentiated from boredom. But do note that it should also be distinguished from tiredness.
Or perhaps, it would be better to use the word...
Trite (closer to
trait)
"Lacking power to evoke interest through overuse or repetition; hackneyed.
or
Archaic: Frayed or worn out by use."
At the end of the day, having a wider range of vocabulary doesn't really help if you're feeling ennui and trite. More vocabulary perhaps just translates to more ways to not say what you're feeling.
Then again, there are times when I wonder if the two words are intertwined in meaning, in a cycle of cause and effect...
If one's feeling trite, doesn't it imply being entrapped in enveloping ennui? or does ennui result in the tediousness of trite?
Trite.
Ennui.
Trite.
Ennui.
I've tried.
It ends oui?
