Come to think of it...
Come to think of it, despite all my artsy-ness, which includes my inability to do maths, visualize 3D layouts in my mind, periodic emo-ness and my incapability to tell time... Hmm... well, maybe not the last bit... Heh... I actually appreciate structure, clarity and orderliness.
Which just might explain why I have this thing for engineering guys despite what I claim otherwise.
*shivers*
Spooky!

Down with Smarty Pants!
I'm honestly quite sick and tired of the people who go on about how thinking and intelligent they are and how much other lesser beings need to grow a brain and to stop being such a bourgeois Singaporean.
Oh please! You, with your snazzy computer sitting there toying with idle time in the evening, ARE emblematic of the bourgeois.
What makes it worse is that these people have no distinguishable talent, well... with the exception of coming up with trite fragments of a comeback. Really, if you're so smart and enlightened, then go DO something about it. Stop hiding behind the mask of cynicism and world-weariness! Being jaded is only cool when you're 15 and newly introduced to irony, ambivalence and subversion. Now that you're a generation past adolescence, kindly grow up. You do realize that the real adults who mean something to the world have done something to contribute to progress right?
It is not about being a blind follower of mainstream thoughts, neither is it about resigning ourselves to fate. This rant is about how annoying the uppity attitude of these people are.
Yes, yes. Every text is self-reflective. And no, I'm not claiming to be more enlightened or more out of the box than these people. But at least I know my place in the great intellectual cosmic.
And to prove it, this is it. Rant over.

Poetry parcel
Alone in her room,
What does a girlfriend do?
"who?"
say you.
"aye."
and you?
There's nothing much ado,
'cept to write a poem or two.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
A head-on encounter, a run-on hi
which trailed into an awkward sigh.
It takes a confrontation,
To make the realization:
That the growling dog,
Bit of more than it ought,
Barking hardly more than a snort.
The need for Standard English...
Hey people! Riddle time!
Guess a ball:This ball, brown-brown one.
Can be quite bouncy.
Some people can shoot very far.
Blacks are famous for it.
Any idea?
Give you another clue:
Today, out of the norm, I've proven myself to be very good at playing with it.
*ahem*
How? Got it?
The answer is...
Basket ball!
Were you thinking of anything else? =P
How true...
If a doctor, lawyer, or dentist had 40 people in his office at one time, all of whom had different needs, and some of whom didn't want to be there and were causing trouble, and the doctor, lawyer, or dentist, without assistance, had to treat them all with professional excellence for ten months, then he might have some conception of the classroom teacher's job.
My Secret
My secret is...
Every Sunday, I'll drop my postsecret to get a dose of melancholy.
But today, I've found something else.
And it's really sweet.
And it gives me hope.
And I feel comforted, that I'm not the only one with little girl secrets.
Second rate love
A conversation with a friend ended with:
(unnamed) hurt me so much the last time. I won't let it happen this time.
That declaration, said with so much confidence, with so much determination, it took me by surprise.
I've come across guys who have learnt from past experiences (and from round table discussions with drinking buddies) that women can't be overly indulged, else they'll be spoilt and unmanageable.
And I've also known women who keep a part of themselves apart, who can't trust.
Isn't that the case for so many of us these days?
That we can no longer love uninhibited nor with wild abandon.
That being experienced has created a fort that is awe-inspiring yet impermeable.
That the ghosts of our past never really seem to be put to rest.
The situation doesn't necessarily has to be motivated by negativity. Like my friend, who is making a rational, logical decision not to repeat the same mistake again.
But why?
Because they've been "hurt so much the last time".
The last time.
Sometimes I wish no one came with a past. But yes, we must acknowledge that experience makes us wiser (and sometimes better people) and that we bring aspects of lessons learnt into the next relationship. But come to think of it, who bears the brunt of your experience? Could it be:
The one who struggles with her emotions while you make your rational decision.
The one who struggles to remember that you love her while you make a stand for manly principles.
The one who struggles to understand you while you are concerned with protecting yourself.
The one whom you pushed away because you couldn't trust.
So pause and think.
Who is the recipient of your second hand love?
