under the guise of concern

You know what I (and other people) always say, that there's no inspiration to write without angst.

So yea... not surprisingly (if you've seen my MSN nick), here I am, with something to say.

I actually wrote a rather long piece on whining and nationalism during my briefing today. But that, I think, can be left to another day when I'm feeling more kindly towards people in general and/or when I'm feeling more patriotic (perhaps over the National Day holiday).

After a period of absence from the blog, the duration, which by the way, was marked by much busyness and little angst (contrary to my present state), I'm back with a vengeance.

Not to worry, I've not executed a 'die hard' on myself but if I have my way, certain individuals might meet with a difficult and excruciating death...

*growl*

Alright... no need for the straitjacket... I'm no maniac, yet.

But beware.

I bite.

*breathe in*

*breathe out*

Ok. Here we go:

This is perhaps an issue that can be perceived parallel to my blogging. A while ago, I toyed with the idea of terminating my blog because of unwelcomed reader/s. But after much thought, I figured that people can only bitch/ make comments on what I let them in on. And the conclusion is what you see today: I've made a conscious effort to moderate what appears on the blog.

Unfortunately, the liberty of self-censorship is impossible in real life. No matter how much you choose to or, in my case, not to disclose, there would be certain "concerned" individuals who would gather to consolidate their 'interpretation of events' and conference about your situation.

Oh. And if you're concerned, the dripping sarcasm will dry.

Sigh.

My grouse is not against concern. I am touched and always encouraged by concern. But honestly, how often can you say that you are genuinely concerned? Or is your 'concern' an invisibility cloak that hides your innate 'curiosity'?

I've been chanting this mantra quite frequently these days: "If you want to say something, tell it straight to me". I think this should apply to interpersonal relationships across the board. If there is something bothering you, just approach me. There is no need to seek the counsel of ten thousand nods in order to affirm your opinion.

That, my friend, equates to speaking behind my back. And if you keep it up, you'll soon be relegated to the status of merely, a friend.

Thank God I've matured beyond the pettiness of disliking someone and to stop being a friend to someone. But sorry to say, I've not reached that level where I won't feel annoyed at all.

And for the record, I am annoyed.

So after I'm done with this angst ridden entry, I'll be dealing with my annoyance. But before I go, let me end on a slightly (and only just slightly) more positive note.

The next time you are privileged with a juicy piece of information, keep it close to your heart. Such that when the truth is revealed, as it always will, you can relish in the pleasure that you were right all along and that you've exercised the appropriate decency and self-restrain in holding your tongue.

Shall end with a proverb (no less!)...

Troublemakers start fights; gossips break up friendships.
~Proverbs 16:28~

Ah... the wisdom found in words of Truth.

Superman and Super Man

The princess is pleased coz she watched her superman in action today. Well, not exactly HER superman but she went to watch "Superman Returns". =p

I thought the cinematography was beautiful, especially when Lex Luther and Superman were having their show-down. (And don't whine that this is a spoiler coz it's a given that Superman and Luther will show-down.)

Anyway, set was grey, the blue and red of Superman was muted and covered with dust and the grey tones were exceptionally arresting when the sea of people, all looking up at Superman, was juxtaposed in the next scene in the same dark tones.

Absolutely beautiful...

Even more beautiful was Fei Xiang, of the 'liu lian... liu lian' fame who was also watching the same show at the same time just one row (and 2 seats left) in front of me!

Woo hoo!

He's bulkier than I thought he'll be but even his back view was mesmerizing... *sigh*

Haha! So silly to be gushing over an 'uncle'.

No photos and autographs though. Me shy.

Princess

I have this hypothesis that women who are treated very nicely by their men tend to be rather princess-y.

By 'princess-y', I mean that they act rather spoilt: easily annoyed, expecting things done their own way all the time. These girls are identifiable coz they will be the ones who sit by and watch while the guy moves tables and chairs/barbecues food/slays dragons/scales walls... [insert feat here].

My stance on this is that when a guy dutifully treats his girlfriend like a princess, things escalate to this point where she forgets (like Joline Tsai) that she isn't a princess out of that particular dual-organism habitat. Carrying with her the lifestyle and idiosyncrasies of a princess, she fails to realize that the world now consists of mainly republics.

Royalty needs to be rooted in realism.
